Flaming Gorge Reservoir Fishing

Fishermen looking to score trophy-sized fish should head to Flaming Gorge Reservoir. This 42,000-acre lake, also known as Flaming Gorge Lake, is located on the southern portion where Wyoming borders Utah. The majority of the 275-mile shoreline is in Wyoming – although part of it stretches into Utah. Lucky fishermen have pulled record-breaking German browns and lake trout from these waters, but you can find other fish here as well, such as rainbow trout, bass, catfish, and kokanee salmon. Surrounded by Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, the reservoir offers great options for camping. While the best entrance is on the west side of the lake near the WY/UT border, you can also access the shoreline using one of the many other locations around the lake. And in the winter, once the ice thickens, it’s a great place for ice fishing.
